英國格林grimm進口微型隔膜泵是用微型直流電動機(電壓為12v、24v的電動機)做動力驅動裝置，驅動內部機械偏心裝置做偏心運動，由偏心運動帶動內部的隔膜做往復運動。從而對固定容積的泵腔內的空氣進行壓縮(壓縮時抽氣口關閉，排氣口打開形成微正壓)、拉伸(壓縮時排氣口關閉，抽氣口打開形成負壓)，在泵抽氣口處與外界大氣壓產生壓力差，在壓力差的作用下，將氣體壓(吸)入泵腔，再從排氣口排出。

第一種工作模式：

電機的圓周運動，通過機械裝置使泵內部的隔膜做往復式運動，從而壓縮、拉伸泵腔內的空氣形成負壓，在抽氣口處與外界大氣壓產生壓力差，在壓力差的作用下，將氣體吸入泵腔，再從排氣口排出。

第二種工作模式：

進口微型隔膜泵是利用螺桿的回轉來吸排液體的。進口微型隔膜泵中間螺桿為主動螺桿，由原動機帶動回轉，兩邊的螺桿為從動螺桿，隨主動螺桿作反向旋轉。主、從動螺桿的螺紋均為雙頭螺紋。 由于各螺桿的相互嚙合以及螺桿與襯筒內壁的緊密配合，在進口微型隔膜泵的吸入口和排出口之間，就會被分隔成一個或多個密封空間。隨著螺桿的轉動和嚙合，這些密封空間在泵的吸入端不斷形成，將吸入室中的液體封入其中，并自吸入室沿螺桿軸向連續地推移至排出端，將封閉在各空間中的液體不斷排出，猶如一螺母在螺紋回轉時被不斷向前推進的情形那樣，這就是進口微型隔膜泵的基本工作原理。
